Your opinion being that meditation is of the same caliber as ritual sacrifice then.
In a perhaps more rational evaluation, my statements are in relation to written, objective documentation of the efficacy of meditation for its traditional purpose found throughout the multitude of traditions. So the logical structure of my statement must be evaluated on that, not your fixation on ritual sacrifice.
I point your attention, for example, to the “Visuddhimagga” (the Path of Purification) written by Bhadantācariya Buddhaghosa in the fifth century AD. From the back cover, “ …a systematic examination and condensation of Buddhist doctrine and meditation technique… In the course of his treatise Buddhagosa gives full and detailed instructions on the forty subjects of meditation aimed at concentration, an elaborate account of the Buddhist Abhidhamma philosophy, and explicit descriptions of the stages of insight culminating in final liberation.” All of that information having been gained over centuries of repetitive and constantly evaluated progress of individual meditators (that’s how it works in traditional settings).
But perhaps your ignorance (that means a lack of knowledge, not that you’re stupid and can’t learn) and associated dismissive attitude is due to watching too many Hollywood movies. Dr. Strange, perhaps? It’s really not like that at all. Trust me on that 😊
