There is another paradigm besides that of physical determinism and its mereological reductionist explanations, and that of subjective consciousness and its unfortunate reliance upon mind-like processes in everything physical.

The first is trying its best to explain away the obvious, and the second ignores its reliance on something that has never been found anywhere and is trying to levitate it out of the fray by personalizing it so as to camouflage it.

Neither works… except to elicit vitriol from the opposing camp, as some of the comments here show, and the rare conversation with the enemy that gets nowhere because each camp knows they are right and aren’t engaging to learn, but to convince.
