Marbled Mornings
The morning arrives and wakefulness too
And for a brief moment I feel your presence anew
A quiet joy arises, my yearning undone
As when we undo our clothes
When our day is done
Snuggle under sheets warmed by two
Circling tongues ribbing outlines of us
When comes the quiet joy of peace that renews
The quiet joy of fulfilling love between earnest friends
Love that consumes everything standing in its place
Leaving Love joyful peace to shine through.
Then you dissolve and my heart can’t rediscover you
So I roll over and hope for my dream to start anew
Where is this love that my heart fulfilled
Where is the joy that simple presence renewed
Lying I daydream about futures to be
Then slowly rise to face labors yet undone
But there is a smile on my face ever so slightly
Knowing that my day beginning had already begun
Already flooded, blessedly colored,
By the sound of your presence
Euphonies of love, and of words compounded,
Not timelessly, nor carelessly, left undone.
