“It stands to reason” is where your argument falls off the tracks. If you are talking about spiritual traditions, they each have their own innate logic that is in all cases as hard to initially comprend as studying any subject. It is only after you learn their logical structure, that you can truly begin to comprend them. Being a good mathematician doesn’t give you inherent insight into quantum physics. For that you need to know the theoretical structures of the subject (since there are many competing theories — not just one) and what they are referring to. Mathematical variables have no intrinsic meaning — the theory assigns them values or targets. So too in spiritual traditions (of which there are many). To apply your own logic, as you do when you say “it stands to reason,” is to ensure that you never arrive at the station.
