I have a wild idea: you, Gerald, and I get together (virtually, of course) to discuss our common interests, since we have very shared interests, and differences that would make this interesting.
I have no time to do so, as I am sure both of you are. But I think we should do it.
I am thinking of the "Inklings." (See: "The Fellowship: The Literary Lives of the Inklings: J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Owen Barfield, Charles Williams by Philip Zaleski and Carol Zaleski.)
From the prologue of that book: "DURING the hectic middle decades of the twentieth century…a small circle of intellectuals gathered on a weekly basis in and around Oxford University to drink, smoke, quip, cavil, read aloud their works in progress, and endure or enjoy with as much grace as they could muster the sometimes blistering critiques that followed."
I am going to post this to Gerald too. Since you two don't have your email addresses public here, you can reach me at mine: stilljustjames@tranquillitysecret.com
