For me:

A story is what we all live — each of us tending to be locked in a story we tell ourselves — and allow others to frame — about our life.

A discussion is a far-off dream in today’s world.

An explanation assumes I know the Truth — a guess informed to a greater or lesser extent is closer to what we all have.

A dialog is a meeting of two minds.

In using the latter word, I am reminding myself that what I write is only an invitation to others who may happen along and want to join the meeting.
